Ayoba — Zulu for “Yes! Go for it!”

Equipping the church in Mozambique to reach a spiritually hungry world.

The Gospel was once paid forward from Europe to Africa. Now it’s Africa’s turn to pay it back. Ayoba Africa Outreach builds a Word-based foundation in Inhambane — so local believers can carry Christ to their communities, their nation, and beyond.

Full-time on the field in Inhambane since 2018. Serving alongside local pastors, not in place of them.

Why partner with us

Mission that stays after the team goes home

Short trips change a week. Equipped local leaders change a generation. Everything we do is built to be handed over.

A solid Word-based foundation

We don’t start with programmes. We start with Scripture — laying a foundation deep enough for a church to stand on long after we’ve moved to the next community.

Relationship before activity

Years of returning to the same towns means doors open that money can’t open. Pastors know us, invite us, and lead with us — the work belongs to them.

Sent from Africa, to the world

The goal isn’t a mission station. It’s a sending base — Mozambican believers equipped, trained and released to take the Gospel to places we will never reach.

What we do

Four streams, one mission

From open-air preaching to leadership seminars to hosting visiting teams — each stream feeds the same goal.

Gospel outreach

Preaching, personal evangelism and community gatherings across the Inhambane and Bilene regions.

Our story

“Ayoba” means yes — go for it.

It’s a Zulu word South Africans use to shout a positive vibe over something: go, and expect good things. That’s the posture we brought to Mozambique.

What started as outreach trips to Sanddrift, Lüderitz, Inhambane and Bilene became a calling in 2018 to serve Inhambane’s communities full-time. Today the work is about far more than visiting — it’s about building a base that equips Mozambican believers to take the Gospel further than we ever could alone.

Home  /  About

A calling that began with a word: Ayoba.

Yes. Go for it. Expect God to do something.

Who we are

From outreach trips to a permanent base

Ayoba is a Zulu word South Africans use to express a strongly positive vibe — slang for “Yes! Go for it!” with the expectation of a good outcome. It is exactly the spirit we carry into every community we enter.

Ayoba Africa Outreach began with outreach teams travelling into hard places: Sanddrift near Alexander Bay in the Northern Cape, Lüderitz in Namibia, and then across the border into Mozambique — Inhambane and Bilene. Four or more outreaches later, relationships with local church leaders and communities were established and trusted.

In 2018 that season turned into a calling: full-time ministry in the communities of Inhambane, Mozambique. Not as visitors, but as neighbours.

Volunteers and local community members working together outdoors

The vision

To equip the body of Christ in Mozambique to further the Gospel locally — and ultimately internationally.

The mission

To build the local body of Christ by laying a solid, Word-based foundation — impacting the region so that communities and other countries are made aware of God’s sovereignty, unconditional love, plan and provision for mankind.

Pay it forward, pay it back. The Gospel was paid forward by Europe to Africa. Now is the time for Africa to pay it back — and feed a spiritually starving world.
What makes us different

We build people, not projects

We stay

Full-time presence in Inhambane rather than fly-in, fly-out ministry.

We hand over

Training, seminars and mentoring so local leaders carry the work themselves.

We carry the load

Admin, reporting and logistics support for churches sending teams into the field.

We look outward

The end goal is a Mozambican sending base, not a permanent dependency.

The road so far

Where the calling has taken us

Each place taught us something about how the Gospel takes root — and each relationship made the next step possible.

  1. 01

    Sanddrift, Northern Cape

Outreach into a remote diamond-coast community near Alexander Bay, South Africa.

  2. 02

    Lüderitz, Namibia

Cross-border outreach into a coastal town on the edge of the Namib.

  3. 03

    Bilene, Mozambique

Outreach and relationship-building with churches in the Gaza province.

  4. 04

    Inhambane, Mozambique — now

Since 2018, our full-time base. Training, outreach, upliftment and hosting visiting teams.

Come and see — or send someone who can.

Whether you want to visit, send a team, or stand behind the work financially, there is a place for you in this.

Home  /  What We Do

Preaching, equipping, uplifting, sending.

Six areas of work, all pointed at the same outcome: a Mozambican church strong enough to send.

Spreading the Gospel

Open-air services, home visits, personal evangelism and community gatherings across the Inhambane and Bilene regions — always alongside a local church, never around it.

Equipping Christian leaders

Training, seminars and discipleship courses for pastors and emerging leaders, sourced through networking with international training centres.

Community upliftment

Recreational and sporting activities, youth programmes and practical initiatives that build trust, dignity and long-term relationship in the community.

A base for missions

Establishing a sound, safe facility that serves as accommodation, a training venue and a community centre for local and international missionary support.

Logistics for visiting teams

Transport, accommodation, translation, permissions and programme planning — so a visiting group spends its week ministering instead of problem-solving.

Admin & reporting support

Helping international churches with the administrative, reporting and outreach functions that keep their missionary work accountable and sustainable.

How it works

How an outreach actually comes together

Whether you’re sending a team or funding a project, the path looks the same.

1

Pray & connect

You reach out. We talk through what God has put on your heart and where the need currently sits on the ground.

2

Plan with local leaders

Nothing is scheduled without the local pastors. They set the priorities; we build the programme around them.

3

Prepare & provide

Travel, accommodation, permissions, translation and equipment are arranged so your team arrives ready.

4

Go & hand over

The work happens — and then continues, carried on by the believers who live there long after you fly home.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Where exactly do you work?
Our full-time base is in the Inhambane region of Mozambique. We also minister in Bilene, and have historically led outreaches to Sanddrift near Alexander Bay in South Africa’s Northern Cape, and to Lüderitz in Namibia.
Can our church send a short-term team?
Yes — this is one of the main reasons the base exists. We handle logistics, accommodation, transport, translation and programme planning, and we make sure your team works alongside local churches rather than in parallel with them. Get in touch well in advance so we can plan properly with local leaders.
What does my donation actually pay for?
Current priorities are a reliable and safe facility to serve as accommodation and a training / community centre, training and multi-media equipment, transport and logistics for outreaches, and training material for leader equipping. You can give toward a specific need or toward the general work — just add a reference when you transfer.
Do I need to speak Portuguese?
No. Portuguese is Mozambique’s official language and several local languages are spoken in the Inhambane region, but we arrange translation for visiting teams. Learning a few greetings goes a long way, though.
Is Ayoba Africa Outreach a registered organisation?
[Add your registration details here — e.g. NPO / PBO number, country of registration, and whether donations are tax-deductible under Section 18A. Donors ask this early, so it’s worth stating plainly.]
How do you report back to supporters?
[Describe your reporting rhythm here — e.g. a monthly email newsletter, quarterly financial feedback, and photo updates from the field. Add a newsletter sign-up if you have one.]
